About me

I have been working in the construction industry for over 40 years, Carpentry has been the backbone of my work but I have also taken on larger building projects with the help of other trade friends. I started my working life as a carpenter and attended Weymouth College in 1977 for 3 years. I worked as a carpenter for 20 years for other building companies on building sites doing 1st fix (floor joists, roofs, stud walls, door linings etc) and 2nd fix (hanging doors, fitting kitchens, stairs &  skirting, etc) ie building houses, also some commercial building refurbishments. After completing my 4 year diploma in 1992 I worked as a site agent on larger projects, the largest project I was in charge of was 3.6 million two 6 story blocks of flats in Bournemouth. In 1998 I worked as a temporary maintenance surveyor for Dorchester council  (In charge of maintaining 47 schools) after that for Bournemouth council in charge of maintaining 1500 homes of their 4000 housing stock. I started being self employed in 2003 after my first year I set up a computerised factory spending £100,000 on machinery to manufacture kitchens & bedrooms for trade and the public. I've sold that & now I have a small workshop at near Poole that I work out of, meaning my overheads are kept as low as possible and I can pass that savings onto my customers.
